Who is in the driver's seat?
A television commentator reported not long ago on heavy congestion on a major freeway. He indicated that drivers these days are becoming frustrated because they can't drive as fast as they want to or change lanes easily. There are increasing instances of violence on the highways, with people using their vehicles as instruments of destruction, ramming them into other cars.
How can you and I help correct such lawlessness? Through scientific prayer. Mrs. Eddy writes of those who discern Christian Science: "They will aid in the ejection of error. They will maintain law and order, and cheerfully await the certainty of ultimate perfection." Science and Health, p. 97;
We can realize that every driver on the road—indeed everyone—is actually God's spiritual reflection, endowed by his Maker with goodness and intelligence. God is Mind, and Mind is the source of all intelligence, the source of individual spiritual consciousness, the real identity of man. There is no other Mind, no other source of wisdom, direction, understanding. We can know that every driver is under the control of that one Mind. Man is not a lawless, incompetent, frustrated mortal.
