The real source of peace
The news of Egypt and Israel trying to find accord should be heartening to all people of good will.
It is an occasion for us to identify the real peacemaker, the Christ, Truth. Not only with regard to the Middle East situation but to other areas of the world, such as Southeast Asia and Rhodesia. Humanly seen, accord between disputing nations comes about through the negotiations of statesmen and diplomats—human personalities—and the signing of treaties. But genuine peace is fundamentally the evidence of the workings of divine Love, expressed through the Christ.
This is a time for spiritually affirmative thinking and specific prayer. It is a time to realize and acknowledge that the peace stemming from the activity of the Christ is perpetuated and protected by the Christ. To the extent that we believe that humans are the originators of peace, we leave concord on a human and therefore fluctuating and, perhaps, fragile basis. Far from being the actual source of concord, peace-seeking human beings are responding to the universal harmony of Love, which is expressed to them through the Christ.
