Willingness to carry on God's work brings healing
One day I realized that walking was becoming...
One day I realized that walking was becoming more and more difficult for me. Use of my legs, arms, and hands was growing increasingly painful. Although I called a Christian Science practitioner for help, the condition seemed to grow steadily worse.
At the time I was serving as First Reader in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. I also held a position as office manager in a large department store chain. It was imperative for me to continue working, for I was then the sole support of my husband and our three children. I was forced to wear large sneakers in order to walk at all, and then I could only shuffle along. Each time I had to write (and this was often, as many reports were compiled in longhand before they were given to the typist), my hand cramped and ached.
The practitioner prayed diligently for me; and although I read and studied the references she gave me, I received no relief and there was no visible change. At her recommendation, another practitioner was called to help me instead, and he too worked and prayed patiently and lovingly.
