My healings through Christian Science include those of sciatica, anemia, a fibroid tumor, migraine headaches, and a skin disease of ten years duration. I was taking shots for anemia and the skin problem, and having osteopathic treatment for the sciatica, when a friend offered me a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. My friend wanted to help me find peace of mind in a difficult relationship.

From the first reading of this book I felt uplifted mentally. But I had no thought of applying Christian Science to the physical disorders. Nor had I any thought of forsaking material aids, which I did forsake for spiritual healing and total reliance upon God. I decided to enlist the services of a Christian Science practitioner to heal the sciatica, which was the most painful condition. Each time there was an acute attack the practitioner's prayer for me was very helpful.

One night, upon retiring, the symptoms of another attack appeared. I turned to a testimony in a Sentinel in which a man told of his healing of a back condition when he decided to rely upon his own prayer in metaphysics, instead of calling a practitioner. He was very grateful for practitioners' dedicated work for him in the past, but now the time had come for him to have more confidence and to rely more upon his own understanding of Science.
