As I read and ponder the Bible together with Science and Health...
As I read and ponder the Bible together with Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, a whole new world of thought is opening to me. With the reading of the works of Mrs. Eddy, I can understand how she was inspired of God as Christian Science was being revealed to her.
I am deeply grateful to be a member of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and The Mother Church, and to know that I am part of this wonderful organization that has so many useful avenues for spreading the Science of Christianity that Mrs. Eddy has given us. To name just a few—I receive enlightenment from the Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly, joy from the Wednesday evening testimony meetings, healing from the prayerful help given by Christian Science practitioners, and understanding from the wonderful Christian Science lectures, which I attend with my wife. Since I met her, she has given me much encouragement and help in overcoming the ups and downs—sometimes the downs seemed stronger than the ups.
While I was living in the tropics and was still a comparative newcomer to Christian Science, an ulcer developed on my leg. For three or four months I was having medical treatment for it, and at the same time, with the help of my wife, trying to heal it through Christian Science. I realize now why the healing did not come. I was serving two masters.
