Almost six years ago, in search of a more credible interpretation...

Almost six years ago, in search of a more credible interpretation of Christ Jesus' teachings and works than was given me by my religious affiliation at the time, I first turned with confidence to the Bible. Praying for an increase in understanding Scripture, desiring with all my heart to learn the truth, I delved unbiased into the New Testament. Looking around and investigating other denominations, I was led to the portal of Christian Science.

My interest was aroused by the religious articles in The Christian Science Monitor, which I read from time to time. "Surely," I thought, "this is ideal Christianity, but who can live it?" Soon I sent for Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, but before it arrived in the mail, a friend had lent me her copy to read. "The time for thinkers has come" is a sentence on the first page of the Preface, and this statement struck a chord of response in me.

I admired thinkers, lovers of wisdom, individuals of reflective nature. For years, Auguste Rodin's statue "The Thinker" had intrigued me because it depicts the effort exacted of man in deep thought. Later I ascertained that Rodin's work fits in with the period in which Mrs. Eddy gave to the world her monumental discovery, divine Science.
