Almost six years ago, in search of a more credible interpretation of Christ Jesus' teachings and works than was given me by my religious affiliation at the time, I first turned with confidence to the Bible. Praying for an increase in understanding Scripture, desiring with all my heart to learn the truth, I delved unbiased into the New Testament. Looking around and investigating other denominations, I was led to the portal of Christian Science.
My interest was aroused by the religious articles in The Christian Science Monitor, which I read from time to time. "Surely," I thought, "this is ideal Christianity, but who can live it?" Soon I sent for Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, but before it arrived in the mail, a friend had lent me her copy to read. "The time for thinkers has come" is a sentence on the first page of the Preface, and this statement struck a chord of response in me.
