Why Let Fear Control You?
One morning I woke in my college dorm room, startled to find I had fallen asleep over my books. It was exam time, and I'd studied most of the night and felt disoriented. I glanced at the clock. It had stopped, but I didn't notice that, and believing the wrong time on its face, I raced across the campus to my morning classroom. It was empty! The curious janitor saw me collapse in laughter on reading the school clock and came over to inquire if I was all right. I was three hours early! He laughed with me and told me I could study in the room until the students arrived.
The ridiculousness of the fear that had engulfed me became very obvious. I decided to begin all over again—this time knowing God was in control of my activities. Obviously, I needed to eliminate fear from my experience.
Before I started studying again I decided to let God, omnipotent Mind, direct me. I realized, of course, God doesn't know anything about a material exam, time, or people needing to take these exams, but Mind does know His children as always perfect, fearlessly living in Love.
