Before attending the Christian Science Sunday School, when I...

Before attending the Christian Science Sunday School, when I entered a store I would take things. But after learning the Ten Commandments, especially "Thou shalt not steal" (Ex. 20:15), I could no longer do this. I had learned that God supplies all our needs, and we don't have to take what belongs to someone else.

In the Bible we are told, "My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Phil. 4:19). I am grateful I learned this early for it has given me much peace and freedom.

Mrs. Eddy tells us (Science and Health, p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."

Also I am grateful to have learned in Sunday School the importance of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. I have proved that, when we extend kindness to someone in need and obey the beatitude, "Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy" (Matt. 5:7), we cannot be deprived of any good.

I am grateful for God, the Giver of all good, for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and for Mrs. Eddy, who has shown Christian Science to the world.

Like my brother, I am grateful for the understanding I have gained in the Christian Science Sunday School of God's goodness and loving care for all His children. One day while at school, I became very ill. I thought I would not be able to attend my next class and would have to return home, but instead I went aside to a quiet place and prayed. I knew God was the only power, the only presence, all good, and "God created man in his own image" (Gen. 1:27). Immediately I felt well and free. Christ Jesus said (John 8:32): "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

At another time I was traveling by car on the parkway with a relative who had been drinking liquor. I noticed that he was driving at about eighty to ninety miles an hour. I was very much afraid, so I turned wholeheartedly to God in prayer, realizing that God was right there. I began to pray the Lord's Prayer. One line of this prayer with the interpretation given by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health reads (p. 16):

"Thy kingdom come.
Thy kingdom is come; Thou art ever-present."

Suddenly the speed dropped to about forty-five miles an hour, and we arrived home safely. Again I rejoiced that I had proved that God is "a very present help in trouble" (Ps. 46: 1).

I am sixteen years of age and one of ten children. There is much peace and harmony in our family, which is due to putting God first.
