Marilee's face was troubled when Joel dropped by the house to pick her up.

"Hey, what's the matter with you?" he asked, taking her hand.

But Marilee just burst into tears, unable to control the longing and frustration that had been deviling her for weeks (or was it months—or even years?). She knew she needed more than human sympathy. But she didn't have the least idea where to find the help she needed.
