JOHNNY STRIKES OUT
Johnny had been waiting all spring for Little League season to open. On sign-up day he had his dad take him down and fill out the necessary papers. What fun it was to practice and get ready for opening day!
Johnny really enjoyed baseball, but there was one thing wrong. His batting was terrible. He just couldn't seem to connect with the ball. He almost always struck out. Most of the other boys seemed to be getting hits. Not all the time, but enough to at least make them happy. But the more Johnny tried, the worse it got.
Finally, after one particularly bad game, when he had struck out every time—not even walked once—he came to see his mother. "Mom, I just don't understand it," he said. "I sure try hard."
