God: Father and Mother
Christ Jesus taught that we can rely on the Father-love of God to strengthen, guard, and heal us; and Christian Science shows that the Mother-love of God comforts, guides, and heals. In her Miscellaneous Writings Mrs. Eddy says, "God is our Father and our Mother, our Minister and the great Physician: He is man's only real relative on earth and in heaven." Mis., p. 151;
Is not the motherhood of God, as well as His fatherhood, implied in the Bible? Isaiah represents God as saying, "As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you." Isa. 66:13; And it is the truth taught in the Bible that Christian Science follows. How can we more fully know our loving Father-Mother God?
Christ Jesus said, "Ye must be born again." He explained, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." John 3:7, 6; We need to realize that we are not born of matter, nor do we live in it or die out of it; we live in Spirit, the only source of life. To acknowledge God, divine Spirit, as the only creator, as the Father-Mother of all, is to see creation as it really is, spiritual and perfect. A perfect cause must produce a perfect effect.
