Restoration

Thousands of people today are separated from home, possessions, loved ones. The reasons for this displacement and deprivation are many and varied. They include occupation of homelands by war or political infiltration, military service, business commitments, imprisonment, famine, flood, fire, and fear.

But this is nothing new. In the Bible are accounts of the uprooting of individuals and even nations. Greed, conquest, tyranny, and calamities of nature caused people to suffer then as they do today. Again and again the prophets urged the Israelites to look to God instead of material sources for their help and restoration. How much unhappiness could be avoided if people would turn to God, omnipotent Mind, who "satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness," and "bringeth them out of their distresses"! Ps. 107:9, 28;
