Overcoming Fear of Sleeplessness
A popular song tells how the singer at night, when he can't sleep, counts his blessings instead of sheep, and falls asleep.
Counting one's blessings can help to establish peace of mind. Gratitude is basic. And prayer before retiring can wipe out nagging fear of sleeplessness.
True prayer affirms the love and goodness of God that the real spiritual man reflects by virtue of his inseparability from Him. By our gratitude for the Christ, the eternally perfect idea of man, we rout the belief in danger. The Psalmist assures us, "I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety." Ps. 4:8;
