Quarrels Can Be Prevented

Do you ever get the feeling that a good old-fashioned row with someone will clear the air and get the quickest results in a difficult human relationship? This sort of temptation probably comes to most people at some time. How they react to it can determine whether healing or unhappiness and stress takes over their affairs. Whichever it is depends on the yardstick—spiritual or material—used for judging individuals and events.

A young student of Christian Science recently learned to his dismay that his boss had been falsely accusing him behind his back of a serious error of judgment. His first feelings were acute anxiety and insecurity.

This boss had a reputation for being a bully, extremely harsh and intolerant of anyone who crossed him or differed with his views. Nevertheless, the Christian Scientist quickly felt both rage and a demand for action well up in him. He was angry at the obvious injustice and unkindness, and he felt anger stemming from his sense of hurt pride.
