Go—Secure!

For all of us, friends change, home and work surroundings change, and world stresses persist in ceaseless variety. Where can one go to feel secure?

Christ Jesus proved he could go anywhere and feel secure. He came up against all kinds of situations that threatened his life and safety. Instead of focusing his thought on upheavals, he viewed humanity and human changes from a strictly spiritual viewpoint. He understood that God is Spirit, and man, created in His likeness, spiritual. So man dwells in Spirit, where carnal-mindedness cannot find him. A careful study of Jesus' experiences as recorded in the Scriptures reveals how conscious he was of his spiritual sonship with God. This enabled him to view spiritually the events around him. He understood the ever-presence of God, Spirit, divine Life, governing all. "It is the spirit that quickeneth," John 6:63; he said.

Jesus demonstrated God's loving care for all. He knew where to turn for the security of divine protection. As recorded in the Bible, Jesus had preached in the synagogue of his hometown, Nazareth, and had identified himself with Isaiah's prophecy of the Messiah. This, and his rebuke of their lack of receptivity, angered the townspeople. "And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, and rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong. But he passing through the midst of them went his way." Luke 4:28-30; The angry carnal-minded senses were blind to his spiritual identity, the clear knowledge of which protected him from harm.
