Packing for a Trip

When preparing for a trip, I always find it useful to think about what I am going to pack in my mental suitcase. That is, what qualities am I going to be sure to take along and have always ready in my consciousness.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us, or we find it not." Essays, First Series: "Art"; This hints at Mrs. Eddy's statement from Science and Health, "Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts." Science and Health, p. 261;

Kindness, patience, and strength, together with appreciation, graciousness, adaptability, and trust in God's care, are ever beneficial to the traveler. As one travels, there are many opportunities to use the Christlike qualities man reflects as the image and likeness of God and to see these qualities reflected in others.
