Heaven Is Now
Christian Science shows us that death is not the doorway to heaven. Heaven can be experienced now in the degree that we learn what it is and where it is. Death, the Bible tells us, is an enemy, and such an enemy—the direct opposite of divine Life—cannot help us reach the harmony of God's kingdom.
We sometimes speak of a state of happiness by using the word "heaven." When thinking about a happy condition or event, we say, "Wouldn't that be heavenly!" Mrs. Eddy sheds new light on the word "heaven" when she defines it as "Harmony; the reign of Spirit; government by divine Principle; spirituality; bliss; the atmosphere of Soul." Science and Health, p. 587;
This definition does away with the belief that heaven is a vaguely defined place located "somewhere." It shows the heavenly kingdom to be a state of spiritually illumined thought, a present inner light that reveals the allness and goodness of God, and the harmony of His spiritual creation, man and the universe.
