To Learn Means to Change
Much of the struggle today is about learning—how to learn, what to learn, and what value to place on what we learn. There was a man whose words "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me" Matt. 11:29; marked a great change in the world's way of life. Christ Jesus knew the importance of learning the truth of God and man. His understanding of God, of his true selfhood and that of every man, was the basis for his wonderful healing works. His clear realization of man as the perfect child of the perfect Father destroyed the false pictures of sickness and sin that the carnal mind presented. Through healing he revealed the truth that man, in his real being, is eternally whole, free, sinless, Godlike.
To learn of Christ Jesus and his healing ministry was to find peace, and so it is today in the Science of the Christ. Christian Science has brought a fellowship of learners into being. In the Second Series of We Knew Mary Baker Eddy it is related that this inspired teacher of Christian Science said to one of her classes, "I have made you learners." We Knew Mary Baker Eddy, Second Series, p. 63; Following her discovery of Christian Science, her whole life was spent to make it possible for mankind to learn more of God's infinite goodness and receive the fruits of healing that result from this knowing.
The number of learners who study under this system of spiritual education is unknown. Many have been healed by studying the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, or by reading an article in a Christian Science periodical. Verified testimonies tell of whole lives being changed when even a little about God has been learned.
