Easter Brings Meaning to Life
The Easter season commemorates an event of tremendous magnitude. When viewed in the light of Christian Science, the lesson it teaches becomes the remedy for much of the futility and hopelessness so prevalent today. We learn that man's existence is more than a chance happening, more than a pointless interlude ending abruptly and forever in death.
During the first Easter weekend, Christ Jesus proved that man's identity cannot be destroyed. Christian Science shows that the goal of human existence is to reach the full understanding of this fact—to demonstrate the perfect and immortal selfhood of man that the great Teacher brought to light.
According to this Science, Jesus' crucifixion was not a sacrificial bloodletting to appease an angry God. It was a selfless willingness to face an ordeal that led to something far greater—to definite proof that death is conquerable. Jesus proved for all time the fact of man's immortality as the reflected image of God, ineradicable Life.
