This testimony is shared in deep appreciation of Christian Science teachings and of Mrs. Eddy's faithfulness in giving them to all mankind. While a member of an orthodox religion and working in the medical field as a registered nurse, I felt the need of reaching out for a more satisfying sense of life. Prayer to be led to the primitive teachings of Christ Jesus was answered when a dear friend, a former medical nurse, introduced me to Christian Science.
While I knew that I had found the answer to what I needed, my progress was quite slow, as I had many erroneous beliefs to relinquish. I read Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy, but when I had finished, I had not understood much of what I had read. I felt that the writer at least knew what she was writing, and in humility I again read the book, and a faint glimmer of understanding followed. Since then, almost thirty years ago, I have rejoiced in being a student of this religion and have been privileged to witness many wonderful healings. Also I am daily experiencing an increasing sense of peace, love, supply, and safety.
To encourage someone who may become "fainthearted" because a problem is not immediately solved, I submit the following experience. Several years ago I awakened at night in extreme pain in my side and abdomen. The condition became so acute that treatment was requested from a Christian Science practitioner. While I continued daily to study the Christian Science Quarterly Bible Lessons and other literature, and the faithful practitioner continued helping me, the condition did not yield but seemed to become worse.
