No Disease in Reality

Disease is healed in Christian Science by knowing that it is unreal. Denying the reality of disease is based on this clear understanding: that God, good, is the source of perfect health and harmony, and that God, the All-in-all, can have no opposite. Having no real place or power, discord is an illusion.

In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures Mrs. Eddy declares, "There is no disease."^{Science and Health, p. 421;} And showing the utilization of this absolute truth in human experience, she instructs: "Argue at first mentally, not audibly, that the patient has no disease, and conform the argument so as to destroy the evidence of disease. Mentally insist that harmony is the fact, and that sickness is a temporal dream. Realize the presence of health and the fact of harmonious being, until the body corresponds with the normal conditions of health and harmony."^{p. 412;}

Learning that there is no disease is an enriching and liberating experience. However, this knowledge does not come through mere intellectual comprehension of the letter of Science. The demonstration of preventing and curing disease is the best teacher. Understanding God, Spirit, as all power and presence, as the only Life, substance, and intelligence, and man as His perfect likeness, lifts our thought to behold reality and enables us to discern the nothingness of imperfection and suffering.
