Healing by taking possession of the body

The Christian Science method of healing is the opposite of willpower. Christ Jesus said, "The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do."^{ John 5:19;} But Jesus gave many instructions on keeping thought in line with God's goodness, and he clearly implied that God gives us the ability to exercise this control.

Christian Science explains that right thinking enables us to maintain the health of the body. God, the divine Mind, inspires us and moves us to think and act rightly. When we respond to divine Mind, we see in our bodies the good results of the good we think and do —God's goodness made manifest.

The condition of our bodies reflects our consciousness of ourselves. If we think of ourselves as material, we are conscious of a material body which imposes upon us its conditions of health. But as we learn of our spiritual selfhood, we become less conscious of being dictated to by the body and more conscious of our thoughts of ourselves coming from divine Mind.
