I am grateful for the many wonderful healings I have received in Christian Science. When I began the study of Christian Science thirty years ago, I was very thin and highly nervous. Family problems occasionally were overwhelming. My sister was at this time having treatment from a Christian Science practitioner and suggested that I, too, pay her a visit. I shall never forget my first visit to the practitioner's office. I felt at ease, and knew somehow that she could help me. When I left her office, I went to a Christian Science Reading Room and purchased the King James Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I studied the Lesson-Sermon every morning and felt calm and at peace. The truth had a purifying effect on my thought, and I was soon healed of the smoking and social drinking habits. I began to put on weight and felt happy and healthier.

A statement from the twenty-third Psalm was given to me to ponder: "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."

A verse from one of Mrs. Eddy's hymns helped me over many an unhappy experience (Poems, p. 79):
