Soon after World War II was over, my aunt, who was a student of English literature, was looking for books written in English. She was led to a Christian Science Reading Room in Tokyo, Japan. When she became interested in the study of Christian Science, she introduced my sisters and me to its Sunday School, and I am deeply grateful for this.

My family and I have had many healings through the application of Christian Science, but I would like to share one of my own I consider outstanding.

When our fifth child was about six months old, I was very disturbed by an extremely fast heartbeat. Since there were a few heart cases in the past within my family, fear crept in, and I went to see a physician. After extensive tests the diagnosis was that I had a serious heart condition. I was told that I could not live if I did not follow the doctor's advice. This was quite a verdict for me to take and so I did as he directed. But when I returned to him again two weeks later, there was no improvement. That was when I was awakened to dismiss the doctor and rely completely on Christian Science treatment. It seemed like slow progress at times, but Love was ever present. I held on to the thoughts "Be still, and know that I am God" (Ps. 46:10) and Mrs. Eddy's words, "Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee" (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, pp. 149, 150). I saw that, in reality, I had nothing but good, which I reflected from God.
