Purity Ensures Success
Christ Jesus, the greatest teacher and healer who ever lived, proved that purity ensures success. He taught his disciples, "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God."Matt. 5:8; It was Jesus' purity of thought and life and his limitless understanding of the allness and perfection of God, Spirit, that enabled him to be victorious over all worldliness. He could discern in an individual his true spiritual being as God's perfect image or child. Thus he restored the sick to health, the sinner to goodness, and the dead to life. The Master never made a reality of sin, disease, or death. Since God, good, never had made such things, they did not exist in divine reality.
Purity is a joy-giving quality. As we strive to express this quality in our lives, as Jesus did, we see that it is essential to our happiness and to the working out of our salvation. Why? Because it enables us to discern the perfection of God and man. We begin to see that since Spirit is Love, it is the source of joy, of eternal wisdom, health, and freedom. We awaken to the fact that because man is God's spiritual reflection he dwells forever in the only Mind that really exists. Hence man is perfect and immortal. Being limitless, he can never be touched by material birth or death. Man is forever embraced in God's love and harmony, and he knows it.
According to Christian Science this real man is as close to us as our spiritual understanding. Then, as we acknowledge our oneness with God as His idea, we begin to express in our human experience a higher sense of self-control, holiness, patience, and a loving desire to help our fellowmen.
