These words of Mary Baker Eddy's have been proved time and again in our family (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 494): "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need," and I have experienced and witnessed many wonderful healings through obedience to God's law.

We read in the Bible that we should not be afraid; yet if we constantly yield to fear in the small things, it will become our master in the bigger events of our lives.

I was once very afraid when I was alone with our two children at the seaside. We were on the beach one afternoon, our daughter, age ten, sitting beside me, when I suddenly saw our seven-year-old son floating out to sea on an air mattress. I called to him, but he was too far out to hear me. I was terrified because I knew that the tide was going out. Fortunately, I was in my bathing suit, so I started to swim after him as fast as I could, but the wind was blowing the mattress even faster. I felt helpless, but then the thought came to me, "What cannot God do?"
