CONFRONTATION
"Who are you, my brother?" Here we stand,
boot toe to heavy boot toe, eyeing each
the other, asking, in the silent speech
of strangers.
Through our fingers slip like sand
the moments. "Are you strong?" This next demand
asserts itself. We wait. We toe the dust....
"Strong enough within yourself to trust
in me?" each asks of each.
Extend your hand.
Silently, my brother, let heart call
to heart, "Our God is One. And we are one
in Him." This is our strength, our song, our prize.
You are His precious son beholding all
the wonder of your being. And I, His son
rejoicing in the wonder in your eyes.
