Words of Current Interest
The words in this issue are related to the Lesson-Sermon in the CHRISTIAN SCIENCE QUARTERLY designated to be read in Christian Science churches on September 1, 1968.
I have not spoken of myself (John 12:49)
The Greek preposition ex does not imply "of" in the sense of "concerning" or "about." "Of" is here employed in its more archaic meaning of "from" or "out of." Hence the Masters words might well be paraphrased to read, "I have not spoken on my own responsibility"; or as the Revised Standard Version expresses it. "I have not spoken on my own authority."
The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works (John 14:10)
