The Power of Spiritual Thought
The power of spiritual thought should never be underestimated. It goes out into universal human consciousness and helps enlighten it. It has the greatest potential for good that mankind can employ for the solving of world problems. Christian Science reveals that good is universal, that any thought which reflects God has no limit of scope in its effect and that it extends into infinity. To realize the allness of God and the perfection of His spiritual creation is to identify oneself with good that is already universal and unbroken and to help bring this good to light so that it can bless all peoples.
Mary Baker Eddy trusted her scientific thoughts to lighten any mental atmosphere upon which they rested. Writing to a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, she said: "I have a work to do that, in the words of our Master, 'ye know not of.' From the interior of Africa to the utmost parts of the earth, the sick and the heavenly homesick or hungry hearts are calling on me for help, and I am helping them." The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 147;
Confronted with the power of scientific, right thought, the carnal mind, the mind of mortals, loses its mesmeric, hampering control; and the latent forces of evil are stirred to awake and resist the good that destroys them. But because evil is unreal, ungodlike, it cannot resist reality. Its claim to do so is dispelled by the Christ, Truth.
