"To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, Pref., p. vii). When this wonderful assurance was quoted to me shortly after I started studying Christian Science, I replied that I was leaning. Lovingly and patiently I was urged, "Lean a little harder, dear." How many times I have been grateful for this wise and encouraging advice, and when I have leaned with childlike trust, I have been healed.

My first healing was that of hay fever, which had plagued me for many years. A chest congestion was healed while I was studying with my son the definition of God given on page 587 of Science and Health. He had been asked to learn it by his Sunday School teacher. It includes the seven synonyms for God, "Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love." Acute colds had formerly brought on the congestion, but there was no recurrence after this.

More recently a serious internal difficulty developed. One of the symptoms was hemorrhaging, which made me fearful. I had Christian Science treatment from time to time. Then a member of my family, not a Christian Scientist, became aware of the condition and described the symptoms to a doctor, who said that it sounded as though surgery would be necessary. This opinion alerted me to "lean a little harder." I asked for the support of a devoted Christian. Scientist, and the healing was completed as I gained a better understanding of man as the compound idea of God. Following this healing a human relationship problem of many years' standing was worked out in a most harmonious way.
