Christian Science has been the only religion I have ever known, and I am grateful for the contribution my parents have made to my experience. My mother began the study of Christian Science when I was a child, after she was healed through Christian Science of complications following an operation. My father remained active in the field of medicine all his life and never embraced the religion, but he allowed and even encouraged his family to study Christian Science.

At one time I tripped over a wire and fell with some force on my elbow, severely injuring it. Because of the pain and the condition of the arm, I called for help from a Christian Science practitioner. At no time was I tempted to have an X ray of the arm to see if it was broken. I used a scarf to hold the arm in place and spent much time in study of the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Except for the first night I slept soundly and was able to carry on my household and church duties to the extent necessary. On the eighth day the sling was abandoned, and soon the arm was restored to full use.

Because of my years of study of Christian Science it was quite natural for me to rely on spiritual means for this healing, and this complete reliance on God helped to bring about a quick recovery.
