Meeting the Spiritual Need
A Christian Science Reading Room is the continuing expression of the tender love for humanity which so naturally poured from our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. She showed great insight concerning the religious needs of mankind when she established the maintenance of a Reading Room as a part of church work.
In speaking of spiritual causation, Mrs. Eddy writes (Science and Health, p. 170): "The age seems ready to approach this subject, to ponder somewhat the supremacy of Spirit, and at least to touch the hem of Truth's garment."'
A librarian writes: "We have had much evidence in our Reading Room this past year that members of the community are pondering things of the Spirit and are reaching out 'to touch the hem of Truth's garment." They are finding their way to the Reading Room.
