My gratitude for Christian Science...

My gratitude for Christian Science started in the Sunday School. I was privileged to be a pupil from the age of nine; and although my parents were not interested in the religion, I gained a good foundation from the dedicated and loving work of the Sunday School teachers. This provided me with such wonderful protection that I was never faced with a problem that could not be solved with childlike faith and a growing understanding of my Father-Mother God.

My husband became interested in studying Science early in our marriage, and this was truly a blessing. Our five children were all privileged to attend Sunday School and were reared with the help of Science exclusively. Six grandchildren are now enrolled in Sunday School.

The time came when the sincerity of my faith and the strength of my understanding needed to be proven. While visiting my mother, I was suddenly overcome with such severe pain that I was not able to think clearly. My mother became frightened and called a doctor. He wanted to take me to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy. With this verdict the mesmerism broke, and I gained enough control to insist that I wanted help from a Christian Science practitioner. The doctor said he would let me wait until morning, but he was very fearful. A practitioner was asked to give me treatment, and in a couple of hours I went to sleep completely healed.
