Shortly after my parents became interested in Christian Science in 1907, I fell ill with a sickness which was medically diagnosed as diphtheria. My parents decided to ask a Christian Science practitioner for help instead of calling the family physician. I was restored to health in three days.
Several years of regular attendance at a Christian Science Sunday School followed for me. I am grateful that the habit of daily studying the Bible Lessons, contained in the Christian Science Quarterly, was established there in my early years. Help in solving academic problems encountered in high school and college was derived from the application of the truths I was taught. Progressive improvement in my health was another blessing.
I did not marry a student of Christian Science, but my husband always supported and encouraged me in my dependence upon this religion. Three times childbirth was experienced with very little discomfort, a faithful practitioner giving effective prayerful support.
