OBEDIENCE
"Speak
the word only,
And my servant shall be healed."
The centurion, stern Roman,
Was acquainted with love.
"For he loveth our nation."
His Jewish friends assured Jesus,
And his servant was dear unto him.
With the authority of empire.
"Do this." he said, and was obeyed.
The soldier saw Jesus
As an officer of God,
A great physician "under authority,"
Who, backed by that authority,
Could command the demon of sickness
To depart and expect obedience.
Give the command only:
"And my servant shall he healed."
