When I first heard of Christian Science...
When I first heard of Christian Science, I was feeling disturbed and distressed. At length I turned to a practitioner to learn what Science really is. That conversation was a turning point in my life.
On the practitioner's recommendation I bought a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and began to study it together with the Bible. Also I attended services regularly in a Christian Science branch church. I did not understand very much, but studying the weekly Bible Lessons, outlined in the Quarterly, and attending church gave me a feeling of freedom and joy.
I shall never forget the summer which followed this first contact with Christian Science. It seemed as if I were living in a higher and purer atmosphere, above earthly cares, and I was full of happiness. Citations from the Bible and from Science and Health were my constant companions. The twenty-third Psalm gave me a happy assurance of God's ever-present love and care. From Science and Health one passage particularly gave me a sense of joy and confidence (P. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."
