When as a young girl I felt...

When as a young girl I felt that I was facing a dark world alone, the first glimpse of the light of Christian Science gave me a ray of hope. As this light kindled in consciousness into faith and understanding, it brought courage and a feeling of purpose in life, independence and security, and a large measure of happiness.

This statement of Mrs. Eddy on page 332 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" has always been comforting: "Father-Mother is thename for Deity, which indicates His tender relationship to His spiritual creation." To understand His spiritual creation became the goal I earnestly strove for. Dependence upon the divine laws of spiritual progress found in that "tender relationship" has brought me through many dark moments of discouragement and fear and blessed me with opportunity, supply, and peace.

Although I have experienced many instances of relief from physical discords for which I am sincerely grateful, my deepest gratitude goes to God for this Science, which unfolds the practical nature of the teachings of our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, through the divinely revealed truths contained in the writings of the faithful follower of the Master, Mrs. Eddy. For the many loving Christian Science workers who have helped me along the way, I give thanks to God. The first of these was the devoted guardian through whom I became a pupil in a Christian Science Sunday School.
