I took up Christian Science because...
I took up Christian Science because of the great need, mentally and spiritually, of a dear one who came home to me for help after all other means had failed. Two members of the family had already turned to Christian Science, so I was encouraged to feel that this one also could be healed. After many weeks of patient, persistent effort on the part of a practitioner the condition was overcome. That was thirty-five years ago, and the healing has been permanent. During that severe testing time, the need for close co-operation with the practitioner made me an active, working Christian Scientist.
The blessings I have received from Science are too numerous to mention in detail, but outstanding among the physical benefits is the fact that I was changed from a frail, nervous woman, subject to neuralgia, sick headaches, and fear of a general breakdown, into a well, strong, active person, free from worry and nervous tension. During the past ten years, between the age of seventy-five and eighty-five, I have taken long journeys by train and automobile, enjoying them as much as my younger companions.
In 1913 I had class instruction, and through the inspiration and spiritual strength gained from this experience I was enabled the following year to care for an invalid in my home, under very difficult conditions, which prevailed for eleven years more. Two people have said that if they had never seen anything of the effects of Christian Science but what it had done for me, they would think it the most wonderful thing that had ever come into the world.
