It would be impossible to express in words my unbounded gratitude for Christian Science and for what it has done for me.

Although since childhood I had been prejudiced against what I thought Christian Science to be, I sought it in desperation following a nervous and mental breakdown.

In my teens I had become more and more perplexed about the orthodox religion in which I had been brought up, and a sense of futility in this direction led me, during the war, to profess myself an atheist.
