I desire to express my gratitude for what God, divine Love, has done for me through Christian Science. For many years the truth, revealed to this age by Mary Baker Eddy, has helped me to solve all my problems. I am especially grateful for the many physical healings which I have witnessed both in our family and among friends. At one time my mother was healed of malaria. She had been having severe chills for several days, and finally became delirious. My sister then took her seventy-five miles to a practitioner, and she was healed in a very short time. I have also witnessed healings of heart failure, appendicitis, double pneumonia, tubal pregnancy, and many other diseases.

I am grateful, too, for guidance, and for the confident assurance Love inspires as we are led through what may seem to us strange experiences. When my trials have become very difficult I have remembered the admonition to be found in I Peter, "Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, ... but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings."

Several years ago I was teaching in my home town. During the eight years that I had taught there the school system had become more and more politically corrupt. When the school year closed I felt that I would never teach there again. Instead of looking for another position I attended the World's Fair, returning home the second week in August. When I arrived home I found a letter from a friend who was slightly interested in Christian Science, saying that she had a serious physical disorder and needed an operation. She begged me to come and read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy with her. I accepted gratefully the opportunity to help someone, although prior to reading the letter, I had felt that I needed a few weeks' rest before beginning my winter's work. The thought came that God was giving me an opportunity to secure another school position while I was on this trip; consequently, I was led to apply for school work in a town nine miles distant from the town in which my friend lived. It was the first time I had applied for a position in eight years.
