In Science and Health (p. 167)...

In Science and Health (p. 167) Mrs. Eddy writes, "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized." This is to express humble gratitude for an instantaneous healing I had as a result of "radical reliance on Truth." For several days I had been bothered with a severe head and chest cold, with its attendant sniffing and coughing. One morning, as I was leaving my home, this condition seemed to be particularly aggravated, and as I was filling my pockets with handkerchiefs, the thought came to me that each handkerchief which I was stuffing into my pockets was a witness to the fact that I was believing this material manifestation. I was trying to prove the omnipotence of Spirit and at the same time trying to assuage matter with handkerchiefs. As soon as the folly of this practice unfolded to me I removed all the handkerchiefs from my pockets, and the result was instantaneous healing.

There have been many more healings in my home, among them those of blood poisoning, ruptured appendix, and pneumonia, all through the application of Christian Science. The cigarette and social drink habits of many years' standing were also eliminated with the patient assistance of a practitioner.

Words are inadequate to express my gratitude. I only hope that I can prove, in my everyday life, the truths as given to us by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.—Marshall William Scott, Amarillo, Texas.
