Salvation

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy says (p. 229), "By universal consent, mortal belief has constituted itself a law to blind mortals to sickness, sin, and death." Through the erroneous belief that there is a power opposed to God, and that man is material, mankind has been brought into bondage to this so-called law, and is struggling for freedom from the slavery it imposes. Through the study of Christian Science we learn that salvation is available to all; and it is not to be attained through death, nor is it to be found in some far-off heaven, but here and now.

God created man in His own image and likeness, and his heritage is dominion. Man has never lost this heritage. It is his through reflection of God, and cannot be lost. As we become Christlike and our thinking is spiritualized, we are able to prove our spiritual dominion over false laws, and thus we become masters instead of slaves.

Paul says, "Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind." This renewal takes place as we surrender the belief that evil has power, and as human consciousness is purified through understanding of and obedience to the law of God. Proportionably as we exchange erroneous thinking for right thinking or knowing, and the belief in a material basis for the one spiritual basis, the ever-present divine Mind unfolds to our thought and error begins to disappear.
