In a recent issue of the Branch County News appeared a timely article entitled "What Fear and Fright Will Do," which refers to an incident similar to the one described by Mrs. Eddy on page 379 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." This article might, however, give your readers the impression that Christian Science heals only so-called imaginary ills, and I shall appreciate your granting a brief space to correct this.

In innumerable instances, through the beneficent teachings of Christian Science, many ills which are not considered imaginary, but which seem very real to those suffering from them, have vanished into nothingness. Not only is fear being replaced with confidence and courage, but lack is giving way to abundance, and both functional and organic illness to health. How is this accomplished? By the understanding which the study of Christian Science gives of the omnipotence of God, of man's relationship to Him, and of the divine law which governs all harmoniously.

Christian Science also teaches us how to overcome fear and make practical such promises as the one to be found in the forty-first chapter of the book of Isaiah: "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: ... I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, writes on page 454 of the Christian Science textbook, "The understanding, even in a degree, of the divine All-power destroys fear, and plants the feet in the true path,—the path which leads to the house built without hands 'eternal in the heavens.'"
