It is with a great sense of gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus...

It is with a great sense of gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and to Mrs. Eddy, our Leader, that I give this testimony.

Christian Science came to me about seventeen years ago, at a time when I was in great physical need. I had what was diagnosed by a specialist as a goiter, and was advised that an operation would be necessary. This condition manifested itself in an enlarged throat accompanied by choking and tight sensations especially when I was lying down. I greatly feared an operation, and as I had heard something about Christian Science, I consented to give it a trial. I was then living in a small town where there were no Christian Scientists, so I wrote to a practitioner in a distant city asking for help. In a short time I experienced some relief. I then purchased "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the Christian Science Quarterly, and "Miscellaneous Writings," and began to read. I was quite a young girl, and the world and it pleasures meant a great deal to me; consequently I did not study as earnestly as I should have, for I felt I did not want to give up my material pleasures. Another thing I found myself doing often was looking in the mirror to see if the enlargement was decreasing. My healing of this particular ailment was slow; but gradually I overcame other difficulties, such as the need of wearing glasses for work, constipation, and sick headaches; and I learned that we manifest perfection only in proportion as our thinking is directed away from materiality toward spirituality. It was six years before I could truthfully say that I was no longer thinking of the goiter, and was happy to find that the manifestation had entirely disappeared. The joy and freedom which we have experienced in our family of three during all these years is cause for much gratitude.

My sincere desire is that I may let my light so shine that it will lead other weary wanderers to this beautiful truth.—(Mrs.) Anna Luck Crane, Madison, Wisconsin.
