When I first heard of Christian Science my left ankle was...
When I first heard of Christian Science my left ankle was in splints, as I was suffering from a tubercular condition of the bone. Later, the same trouble appeared in my right elbow. I had undergone several operations, but neither condition would heal. I was nineteen years old at the time. After reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and spending a short time in the Christian Science Sunday School, I was able to dispense with the splints. The elbow was the first to heal.
I had not been studying Christian Science long before minor faults of character began to disappear, the smoking habit being overcome; and one of my first big blessings on coming into Christian Science was the securing of a business appointment, although I was still walking with the aid of crutches at the time. The condition of the ankle was slow to yield. There seemed much fear to be met, as I had suffered for eight or nine years and had walked on my foot only once during this long period. I attended a Christian Science lecture in a near-by town, and the truth broke upon my consciousness so brightly that I made rapid headway from that time. All the fear that had been holding me melted away, and I was soon able to wear a boot on my foot. To-day I walk several miles every day on business, and I have been able to take up motor cycling. This I should never have thought possible before coming into Christian Science. But above all the physical benefits I have received, I am grateful for the wonderful knowledge Christian Science has given me of God as Love. I am grateful for the Sunday school and for membership in a branch church, and above all for our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy.—Herbert Spencer Green, Moseley, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.
I should like to verify my son's testimony as I was with him throughout. His healing brought me into Christian Science, and I should like to express my deepest gratitude for all the benefits, both physical and mental, that I have received since taking up this study.—(Mrs.) Annie Green.
