My first healing through Christian Science, some years...
My first healing through Christian Science, some years ago, was instantaneous. I was in a run-down condition and was troubled with hemorrhages, which physicians in two cities could not seem to diagnose or relieve. As we were new to Christian Science, and a practitioner was visiting the home, treating another member of the family, my mother asked for help for me. I was lovingly asked to read, which I did night and day, as I was unable to sleep. From that day to this I have never had another hemorrhage.
For five years I read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and also our Lesson-Sermons from the Christian Science Quarterly every day; but I did not apply what I learned until one day I became so thoroughly disgusted with materia medica that I felt I must know if what I was reading was indeed true. I decided to throw out my medicine and just read and study and prove the truth of Christian Science for myself. For six days and nights I read every minute I could, and I experienced my healing from a condition which I had had from childhood and which many doctors had pronounced paralysis of the bowels. I was indeed grateful for this healing, but even more grateful that I had found the truth and knew in a measure the power of God.
A few weeks later my husband was convinced of the practicability of Christian Science through the healing of our eighteen-months-old daughter. She fell on a hot gas stove and became wedged between the stove and the wall, burning her face, neck, and hands severely. With the loving help of a practitioner, she was soon playing again. The next morning, to our surprise, new skin had formed on her face and neck. The entire healing was quick, and no scar remained to remind us of the experience.
