Becoming a little curious regarding Christian Science, I...

Becoming a little curious regarding Christian Science, I was led to ask the loan of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, from a friend, knowing she had several copies in her home. Instead of lending it, she asked if I would not like to possess a copy as a gift; and my reply in the affirmative brought the book. I began to study it solely because its teachings were very spiritual and seemed to satisfy a long-felt want to know God better. I had need of healing, having been a semi-invalid for about twelve years, as the result of eight or nine operations, one major and the others minor; but as I had never heard anything regarding the healing which the understanding of this Science brings about, I had no faith in that part of it. As I studied and prayed for more enlightenment, I began to lose some of the extreme nervousness I was being doctored for, and eventually all nervousness disappeared as I progressed with this wonderful study; and I am now experiencing health, activity, spiritual uplifting, and peace such as I had never deemed possible. Among the errors to be overcome were loss of appetite, insomnia, extreme sensitiveness, fear, chronic colds, coryza, deep depression, and constipation; and I was so nervous that nothing seemed to work right physically. I am so grateful that through persistent study and prayer I have overcome all that seemed to bother me; and I have since joyously witnessed the healing of my mother, who had a valvular leakage of the heart for forth years, high blood pressure, and difficulty in breathing. This healing also came about through persistent reading of the textbook.

I have witnessed many healings in our family, of hemorrhage of the nose, pneumonia, influenza, ptomaine poisoning, grief, melancholia, muscular sprains. I am very grateful to God, to Christ Jesus, and to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for this great truth that is a panacea for all human ills. I am also grateful for the understanding and ability to see man in God's image and likeness, as this is enabling me to overcome the arguments of material sense.
