Though I have had the blessed privilege of expressing...
Though I have had the blessed privilege of expressing verbal thanks at the meetings which our consecrated Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, instituted for the bringing in of all our tithes,—namely, the true praise of gratitude,—I desire to send some written word as witness to some of the proofs I have had of the ministering power with which Truth and Love heal and bless.
About a year ago, I experienced an injury from having been run into by an automobile. My knee was fractured, and there were serious complications and circumstances which made my case seem very discouraging and difficult. But without the use of crutches or a cane I was able steadily to resume activity. For many months my circumstances rendered it necessary for me to go about from place to place, so that I have had to walk, board trains and trolleys, and do a good deal of housework, besides being mentally active writing and reviewing. My gratitude for this recovery is beyond words to tell.
I have been quickly healed of influenza; also of bronchitis. A bad inflammatory condition of the eyes was healed in a few days, whereas under medical treatment a similar condition had persisted and rendered all use of the eyes impossible for several weeks. I have also been able to discontinue the use of glasses, which I had worn for years. A rheumatic joint was also healed. A large lump which appeared under one arm, and was very painful, disappeared entirely overnight and never reappeared. The sting of an insect was instantaneously healed. Many, many times has divine Love opened channels of supply, so that my financial and other daily needs have been met. Other healings have been mine, among them the healing of insomnia, and of many fears which had held me in bondage. When I was seemingly separated from the nearest and dearest of all my relatives, Christian Science enabled me to overcome all sense of loss or parting. For all of this I am unspeakably grateful, since it all gives precious proof of spiritual means to meet human needs. Sometimes the results have been brought about with the aid of a practitioner, sometimes through my own humanly unaided efforts to realize the truth of being.
