I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing
I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing. A friend who was beginning the study of Christian Science, and who was apparently having some difficulty in gaining an understanding, asked me to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy to her and endeavor to explain it as I read. This I did, although I made it quite clear to her that I knew nothing whatever of the subject. Needless to say, after reading a number of times and doing my best to gain an understanding sufficient to explain what I could to my friend, I was impressed with the truth presented about God. Although I did not undertake the study of Christian Science for physical healing, I have had a number of beautiful demonstrations. A skin disease which doctors claimed was incurable has disappeared. I have had two other physical healings which were instantaneous. I am very grateful also for the fact that through my understanding of God as taught in Christian Science others have been healed of paralysis, boils, inflammatory rheumatism, a serious condition following an operation for gallstones, and so on.
This past year a condition of financial lack made itself apparent in my own experience. It became so real to me that I was unable to handle the case myself, so asked help from first one practitioner and then another. In each case help was lovingly and willingly given, but there seemed to be no relief. I finally met a practitioner through whose help the most harmonious and remunerative position I have had for a number of years opened up in a very short time. Although I am very, very grateful for the necessary financial supply, my gratitude is unbounded for the healing of a very deep sense of bitterness and resentment, which seemed to hold me in bondage, and which my own understanding was inadequate to destroy.
I also am very grateful for Mrs. Eddy's writings, the periodicals, the Sunday services, and the Wednesday evening testimony meetings.—(Miss) Isabella Montgomery, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.
