I feel I should like to express my gratitude for the understanding...
I feel I should like to express my gratitude for the understanding gained of God and of what God does for mankind. Through the study of Christian Science, as given to us by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," we learn and discern our relationship to God, and find how truly the teaching of Christ Jesus blends with the rules laid down in our textbook. As we study this practical teaching, we see a little clearer what our bounden duty to God is. Christian Science came to me when searching for a remedy for the removal of a tremendous weight of fear. Some years before taking up this study, I had had a very critical operation performed, but this gave me no relief whatever; in fact, it only intensified the pain, and I was left practically a wreck. I daily asked God for His guidance and love, but fear still loomed large in front of me. However, the way was opened. I became interested in Christian Science, and was greatly relieved when told that the Bible was always used in conjunction with the textbook. I then realized that I had laid hold of the right teaching.
I am grateful to state that with the loving help of a practitioner a gradual unfoldment took place, and I began to see, as a child of God, my spiritual inheritance. During the years I have been in this teaching I have had many proofs of the loving Father's care. However dark the problem has seemed to be, a full reliance on the truth has solved it. As our Master said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." A Christian Scientist who realizes the truth of these words is not under the bondage of sin or disease. Paul said, "I was free born."
Words are inadequate to express the gratitude I feel for the help and comfort derived from Christian Science, which has given me a fuller understanding of God as Life. I count it a privilege to be a member of The Mother Church and a branch church, and to have had class instruction. I am grateful for the Manual, for the lectures, and for the authorized Christian Science publications.—(Mrs.) Elizabeth Rothwell, Wellington, New Zealand.
